Apparently days after a mass killing in Mumbai and in the midst of a war on terror and a faltering world economy, the Herald Tribune has decided that latest story worthy of a headline in their Business section is that vegetarian diets reduce a diner's carbon footprint.
But wait, it gets better... the article tells us that some have gone so far as to recommend that you eat frozen goods as a way of combating climate change.
My friends, I think we've officially gone over the edge.
Of course now it will only be a matter of time before Big Brother takes a breather from banning soda machines and pizza slices at High Schools to start mandating vegetarian meals at all restaurants because after all, eating lower down on the food chain means fewer CO2 emissions!

On the flip side, I know a group of people (besides me) who won't care about this veggie-diet-global-warming-ditty: the ones who believe they have the greenest lifestyles. After all, as you may recall, they are some of the main culprits behind said "global warming".

Geez...I am so confused at the general lack of common-sense infiltrating society.
I support taking a common-sense approach to caring for our earth. I recycle glass bottles, plastic grocery bags and newspaper. To change our diets, however, in an effort to reduce our carbon footprint? Give me a break. You are right,CL, "we've officially gone over the edge."
P.S. There is NO WAY I am giving up In-N-Out.
CL i have to make a correction in your post. You said it is only a matter of time before big brother takes soda and pizza out of high schools. Well soda machines are already gone from a lot of high schools. I know for a fact that they are gone from elementary schools. Wait....it gets better.
The district i work in official stance is "no sweets, desert etc in the teacher lounge. If you are going to bring something in...it needs to be healthy" This is after they took soda machines away.
What is the point of being a teacher if there are no sweets in the teacher lounge? Way to control my eating habits. Big brother is already coming into our lives
Thank the Lord Almighty above for The Chlorinated Liberty. God be praised. Now I have, not only an additional excuse but, a duty -- yes, a duty -- to increase my expeditions to In and Out Burger. Now, instead of a once a week deal (as has become a tradition in my office) to three or perhaps four times a week. Not only will I increase my intake of yummy goodness from In and Out but, also, the necessary of driving to get there will increase my "carbon footprint" substantially. It's too cold outside anyway.
