Let the Revolution Begin: Two Californias

Posted in ,

Former Assemblyman Bill Maze, is reviving the old but timely debate that two Californias are more easily governed than one. He is pushing for California to split in two: the conservative interior as one state and the liberal coast as another.

No, this is not a joke, nor is it a new idea.

It is the latest revision of 27 prior attempts with most attempts never getting far off the ground. The last serious attempt was made by Republican Assemblyman Stan Statham in the early 1990s. The most famous secession movement came in 1941, when several counties in Northern California and southern Oregon tried to form the State of Jefferson – until World War II intervened.

Now in the era of hope and change maybe this time it's for real.

FINALLY!! bring it on socal! oh and take SF with you. You can have your economic development blah blah blah. Guess what...your water....runs through us and last time i checked SoCal you live in a desert. That is California History 101.

Be cocky enough SoCal residents to vote to split our state in two.

What does the Former-Assemblyman hope to gain by this radical idea? It's obviously not going to happen....where does he want this media attention to take him?
