CNN Poll: Americans Overwhelmingly Oppose "Ground Zero Mosque"

Eight and a half years after September 11, 2001, people still come to pay their respects and remember the nearly 3,000 lives that were lost when radical Muslims flew two hijacked American airliners into the World Trade Center towers. It was the worst terrorist attack ever on American soil.

Now the proposed building of the $100 million, thirteen story Islamic center and mosque has led to a firestorm of criticism over its proposed location – just a few blocks away from the site of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks by radical Islamic terrorists that left nearly 3,000 dead.

CNN’s latest poll shows that 68 percent of voters oppose the so-called "ground zero mosque". Only 29 percent favor it. More women than men (70 percent to 65 percent) oppose it. Every income and educational group overwhelmingly opposes it. Democrats (54 percent), Independents (70 percent), and Republicans (82 percent) all oppose it.

As Jennifer Rubin points out, on this issue it's the Left vs. America at Ground Zero.
